Ident 03: Friday the 13th
Production & Design Design Development
For Friday the 13th the ident was meant to be subtle and convey something that is almost missed. The basic storyboard showed the movement I needed to create really well and illustrated the movement perfectly. After reviewing the design I chose to make the bottom part of the heart not fully detatch to leave it hanging to provide a lasting movemnt to the end of the ident so the ident didn't appear static.
Overall for this ident the design was really simple and easy to execute and relied simply on creating a vector mask which covered then revealed parts of the design below. The pieces of the heart the cracks have then created fall to the floor. Having stuck to what was designed on my storyboards this ident was not complicated in the slightest to produce.
I then added sound to the ident simply using a single sound file which sounded like cracking bones, I thought it added a real grittiness to the animation as opposed to a clean 'shatter' sound.
I ended up making slight adjustments to the sound to create a more realistic crash as the pieces hit the floor by simply adding a change in audio levels to dampen the remaining sound. Subtle design, simple production.
